A Report on Multi-Layer Interface Design

In this assignment, you will study the paper “Promoting Universal Usability with Multi-Layer Interface Design” written by Ben Shneiderman and write a report according to the requirements given below.

First, provide a summary of the paper, including user interface design problems it address, the solution it proposes, and conclusions it comes up with.

And also give your own opinions on the author’s proposal such as its technical significance as well as pros and cons.

In addition, find a practical example of multi-layer interface (other than what is mentioned in the paper) and use your example application to describe the author’s proposal and support your statements in the report. In order to provide necessary background information, identify user’s needs on the application, choose two different user profiles and produce a basic scenario for each one, capturing how the user is expected to interact with the application, as well as draw a graphical HTA for the main task associated with the application.

Your paper should be in 12-point, single-spaced type, and about four pages (excluding diagrams if any). Turn in a hardcopy of your report on the day it is due.
